Rev. Dr. H. Stephen Shoemaker, Senior Minister
A Masters of Divinity graduate of Union Theological Seminary in New York City and Ph.D. graduate of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Dr. Shoemaker has also served as pastor of Crescent Hill Baptist Church in Louisville, KY and Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX.
An accomplished musician, Dr. Shoemaker served as principal cellist for the Stetson University symphony orchestra where he graduated Magma cum laude in 1970. He and his wife Cherrie have two children, David and Ann.
Dr. Shoemaker is author of numerous articles and six books including God Stories: New Narratives From Sacred Texts. In the words of humorist Garrison Keillor, “Steve Shoemaker is a gifted preacher whose gift lies in narrative – telling stories of the faith – which is the most powerful preaching of all.” His latest book, Being Christian in an Almost Chosen Nation: Thinking About Faith and Politics was published in September 2006. |
