We welcome you and your child, birth through Kindergarten, to Myers Park Baptist Church Children’s Ministries. On Sunday mornings, your child will be greeted by friendly teachers and bright, inviting rooms.
Faith Formation – 9:45-10:45am
Worship – 11:00am
On Sundays, children are cared for from 9:45am-12:15pm. Our rooms are separated according to age. All of the adults, whether they are paid providers or volunteers, working in our room from our Nursery – our Fifth Graders have been trained in our Child Protection Policy.
Here are the different groups ant their room numbers.
Nursery: 8 weeks old until walking; Room 104
This room is a child’s introduction to church. Here they will be cared for by trained workers who give the very best care. Families are asked to bring all necessary items to the nursery (diapers, bottles, etc). The room offers a split space, one for playing and interacting; one for sleeping and nursing mothers. Once a child is walking they are transitioned out of this room.
Toddlers and Twos: Walking until Third Birthday; Room 105
Children in this room are introduced to the basic Bible stories while being in the care of trained childcare providers. With a classroom and playground designed just for this age group, children are invited to explore and learn in a safe loving environment. Families are asked to send snacks for their children in this class.
Threes and Fours; Room 107
This is the age when we begin doing full Christian Education. Teaching through a stories, play, and art children are taught the stories of the Christian faith in a way that is age appropriate. The classroom and playground and geared towards engaging the child’s entire being.
Transitional Kindergarten/Kindergarten (TK/K); Room 108
Designed for children who are preparing or already in Kindergarten this class teaches children the stories of the Christian faith as well as helping them understand the characteristics of a follower of Christ.
The TK/K class begins their Sunday morning in Temple Time with the Elementary Age children for songs, scripture reading, and some simple church education.
Faith Formation – 9:45 – 10:45am
Worship – 11:00am
God’s Garden- Faith Formation for First – Fifth Graders
God’s Garden is our Elementary Faith Formation experience. Following the Workshop Rotation Model, the stories of the Christian faith are taught through a variety of workshops- storytelling, creative movement, cooking, drama, cinema, and art. Over the course of four to five weeks, children will visit these workshops and learn the Bible story in a variety of ways. This approach allows children to dig deeper into the stories than can happen in a traditional Sunday School Program.
At 10:45 parents are asked to pick up their children in TK-Fifth Grades and go to the Sactuary. Many Sundays our children go to the gym for an intentional game time with trained adults. There are a few Sunday during the year when they will remain in worship with their families. Any children who wishes to remain in worship any Sunday is welcome to do so.
Here are the Sundays when Children will NOT have a gym time:
10/2: World Communion Sunday
10/23: Chapel Choir (3rd-5th grades) Lead in Worship
10/30: Carol Choir (Kindergarten-2nd grades) Lead in Worship
11/20: Both Children’s Choirs Lead in Worship
11/27: Advent I: Moravian Love Feast
12/25: Alternative Worship Service at 10:00 AM in Heaton Hall

Children of all ages have the opportunity to engage in music on Wednesday nights. For more information about our Children’s Choir Ministry, please click here.
While children are in choir, parents are invited to Coffee Chat with Rev. Carrie Veal. This is a time for community building and deepening our friendships. Coffee is provided and we meet in the Church Parlor off of Heaton Hall.
Twice this semester we will offer Wonderful Wednesdays for our church families. After choir families are invited to dinner and then a special event for the children is planned.
On October 26 we will have our annual Halloween Festival. Children are invited to dress in costume and trick or treat around the inside of the Church. Games and other activities are also a part of this church-wide evening.
On December 14 we will have our Christmas Festival. Plans are being made for this fun evening, so be sure to check back.
